Parabolic Heater Hot Item

Hottest item in the store, literally!

This heater  has been  the most talked about new item, since we have opened our doors 25 years ago.  It oscillates, puts out great heat, and uses much less energy than conventional  electric heaters.

Nearly everyone that passes by, stops and warms their hands.  Comments include: “That’s really nice!”  “Does this have a fan on it?”  “This feels great!”  “How long is it’s cord…. I want to take it with me!”  “Now that’s the kind of heater we need!”

We have the setting on 400 watt and oscillating.  When a customer selects the 800watt setting it really gets their attention!

Scotty Stanley Fango’s Fall $1,000 Fall Merchandise Giveawy Winner!

On November 28th, 2011 I asked Angy to stick her hand in the bag and pull out a winner.  As a store owner these events can be a bit scary, you always want a loyal customer that is civic minded to win these events, but thats not what always happens.  We are depending on the luck of the draw, in this case, Angy’s draw.

Angy shuffled her hand around in the bag, grinning and making strained looks as she stirred around the sack for the lucky winner.  She looked up at me and said, “I can’t believe you are making me do this…I’m new here and your making me draw this name out of the bag!”  I grinned real big and nodded my head yes.  After what felt like an eternity, Angy slapped the piece of paper on the counter.  We both peered over to see the name.  “Angy, flip it over.”  Angy looked at me, then teasingly flipped it back and forth.  I looked at her and she laid the winning name upright and started pressing it out, she’s neat like that.

I looked over and saw the name on the entry form and immediately started grinning.  I knew this name and was happy that he was our winner.  Scotty enjoys the outdoors and is a Lieutenant at the Madisonville Fire Department.  He has worked there going on twelve years, this is someone that any of us can look up to.

I went into the office to call Scotty, when he answered I identified who I was and said “Guess what?”  He responds.”Huh!”  I reply, “You’re our winner for the Fall Merchandise Catalog Giveaway!”  There’s dead silence on the other end of the phone. “Scotty, Scotty are you there.”  After a few moments I heard Scotty say, “I’ve never won anything.”  I assured him that he was our winner.  We talked a few more minutes, I explained the process for claiming his prize, and congratulated Scotty.

I sat for a moment then got up and gave Angy a hug for drawing such a deserving individual. A bit later Scotty came in to fill out the form for claiming his prize.  I gave him a fresh copy of the Fall Merchandise Book for him to pick his merchandise from.

December 10th, the big day.  All of the merchandise has arrived and I had asked Scotty to come in for some pictures, so I could share this event with everyone.  Lesley is helping me set up. Scotty comes in. He has just gotten in from deer hunting.  We talk about the chill in the air, while I get my camera, props and my composure together.  We get to the area Lesley and I set up, I hand Lesley the “Big Check”, and pose Scotty and Lesley together.  “Lesley hold the bottom of the check. That’s perfect!”

As I’m taking shots, Scotty and I engage in small talk.  I see a utility tub, and joking ask if that was for his wife.  Scotty replies, “No actually, I’m going to put it in my building.  I am wanting to get a taxidermy business started sometime, more piddling than anything.  That’s the reason I got it.”

I have Scotty change his pose, I say “So the drill is going to be the baby.”  Scotty replies, “Oh, yeah!”  I tell Scotty to look happy!  Scotty chuckles as I snap a few more shots.

We talk a bit more, Scotty thinks back as he looks at his merchandise, “When you called, I thought WOW! I had never won anything of significance at all…. this is amazing!”

I ask Scotty if it was difficult choosing what he wanted.  Scotty replies, “My biggest problem was deciding what I wanted.  I thought it would be easy, But there’s so many things in there I honestly could have used or wanted…there was alot!

I go get a shopping basket and and help load Scotty’s merchandise.  I take one more picture before we head out the door.

I know Scotty likes to hunt, as I help him load his truck I ask, “Sometimes when your going boar hunting, could I tag along?”  Scotty replies, “Sure give me a call.”

Window Paint Just Arrived

I had this item at the counter making a price label…it was calling me.  I remember window painting during Halloween as a kid.  For years it was great event that the Madisonville  Kentucky Merchants would sponsor each year.  Every year I had visions of winning the grand prize with my masterpiece, the great design.

The window paint was calling me!  “You can show the world the judges overlooked such talent!”  I purchased the window paint and was off to show the world!  I had a design in mind, I had my medium, in between customers I worked diligently on my work of art!  Finally, after about 15 minutes I was done!

I had the desire, just didn’t have the talent.  But it was great fun, just like the Halloween Window contests of yesteryear!
